Women's Tennis Sweeps Olivet

OLIVET, Mich. – The Trine University women's tennis team swept their hosts from Olivet College to finish the season on a high note with a 9-0 win.

Seniors Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) and Ellie Cole (Albion, Ind. / Central Noble) began the day with an 8-0 victory in the No. 1 doubles match, the largest margin of victory in the first half of the day. Sophomore Jadyn Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) and freshman Bekah Trent (Harrodsburg, Kent. / Mercer County Sr.) would then take the No. 2 match by the score of 8-2 and junior Eva Morales (Elkhart, Ind. / Elkhart Memorial) and freshman Lizzie Welker (Maumee, Ohio / Springfield Sr.) finished off with a 8-5 win.

Four different members of the Thunder would record shutout victories in the singles portion of the day. Spirrison in the No. 1 match, Morales in the No. 4 match, Cole in the No. 5 match and freshman Kennedy Outwater (Bronson, Mich. / Bronson) in the No. 6 match all won 6-0, 6-0. In the No. 2 match Davis would finish with a 6-1, 6-0 win and Trent finished off the day with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 3 match.

The team finishes the season 11-7 overall and 4-4 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). They still have an outside chance of making the MIAA tournament, but would need Saint Mary's to lose all three of their remaining contests.
