Women's Tennis Drops Match to Indiana Kokomo

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's tennis team competed in another long match, this time coming up short of the talented visiting squad from Indiana University Kokomo by the score of 7-2.

The Thunder failed to win a match during the double portion of the contest and would enter the second part of the match trailing 3-0.

The singles portion of the of the day went slightly better for the home team, but it wasn't enough as they would only come away with two wins. The closest match of the night came in a loss for Trine in the No. 2 singles match where freshman Elina Locane lost 3-6, 6-4, 8-10, after forcing a tiebreaking third set.

The first win for the team also needed a tiebreaker, this time freshman Emille Bassett would come out on top, storming back from a first set loss to win 0-6, 6-2, 10-3. Classmate Alexis Maloney would win 6-4, 6-1 in her match earning the most convincing win of the night for the team.

The loss is the team's first of the season as they fall to 4-1 overall. The fall portion of the season will conclude when members of the team travel to St. Louis, Mo. For the 2022 ITA Regional Championships. The event is set to run for three days beginning on Friday, Sept. 30.
