Women's Tennis Sweeps Manchester

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's tennis team swept visiting Manchester University, posting a dominating 9-0 final score.

The closest match of the day took place in the No. 1 doubles match where sophomore Bekah Trent and freshman Elina Locane ended up winning by the score of 8-4. The No. 2 match was a bit less exciting with freshmen Emilee Bassett and Alexis Maloney winning handily by the score of 8-2. Finally, senior Eva Morales and sophomore Lizzie Welker finished off the No. 3 match, 8-1.

Morales then had the longest of the singles matches, ultimately winning the No. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-2. Trent followed up in the No. 2 singles with scores of 6-3, 6-0. Locane became the final member of the team to drop a game winning the No. 3 match 6-1, 6-0.

The final three matches all went to the Thunder with scores of 6-0, 6-0. Bassett, Maloney and senior Bailey Pelliccia all recorded the lopsided victories.

Trine improves to 7-3 following the victory. They will continue their season when they travel to face the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Sunday, March 19. The dual match is scheduled to begin at noon.
