Women's Tennis Falls to Knights

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's tennis team dropped their dual against Calvin University by the score of 7-2.

The match opened with the Knights taking two of three doubles matches. The team of freshmen Emilee Bassett and Alexis Maloney combined to get the Thunder's first win in the No. 2 match. They outscored their opponents 8-5. In the No. 3 match, senior Eva Morales and sophomore Lizzie Welker came close to a second win falling just 8-5 themselves.

Things deteriorated during the singles portion of the contest, where Calvin won all but one of the matches, mostly in convincing fashion. The lone bright spot came in the No. 4 singles match where Bassett improved to 2-0 for the day with a 6-3, 6-2 win.

Trine falls to 10-6 overall and 2-3 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play following the loss. They will head on the road for their next contest, facing off with Adrian College on Tuesday, April 18. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
