Women's Tennis Ends Season against Kalamazoo

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's tennis team dropped their final match of the 2022-23 season to visiting Kalamazoo College. The Hornets secure sole possession of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) regular season title with the win, while the Thunder will finish in fifth in the conference standings.

All three of the doubles matches went in favor of the visitors to give them a 3-0 lead to start. The team of freshmen Emilee Bassett and Alexis Maloney had the best showing for Trine in the No. 2 match. They forced a super tiebreaker in that match eventually falling by the score of 7-8 (4-7).

The singles portion went the same way allowing Kalamazoo to finish with the 9-0 victory. Maloney turned in another strong performance in the No. 5 match where she forced a tiebreaker after taking the second set. The final of that match was 4-6, 6-3, 3-10 in favor of the away side. Bassett also had a decent match losing in No. 4 singles 5-7, 1-6.

The Thunder finish the season 11-7 overall and 3-4 in MIAA play, a fifth place finish for the team who will just miss out on postseason play.
