STAHL SETS SCHOOL RECORD FOR THIRD STRAIGHT MEET

ANGOLA, Ind. - It was another solid meet for the Trine University track and field teams as they took home five first place finishes at their third Trine Open of the season.

Although the meet was not scored, the Thunder had many top performances including senior Courtney Stahl (Lowell, Ind./Lowell Senior) breaking her own school record in the weight throw for the third straight meet, winning with a distance of 45'10.5". Stahl also placed second in the shot put with a throw of 36'1.5".

Freshman James Gregory (Warsaw, Ind./Tippecanoe Valley) had an outstanding night as he took home the top spot in both the 60m hurdles and the long jump. In the hurdles, Gregory sprinted across the finish line in a time of 8.95. Gregory then leaped to a distance of 20' 9.25" to win the long jump.

In the weight throw, the Thunder took the top two spots as freshman Andrew Bunting (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) and junior Clayton Whistler (Rochester, Ind./Rochester) took first and second places with throws of 46'10" and 44'2.75" respectively. In the pole vault junior Lincoln Frey (Pettisville, Ohio/Pettisville) placed second clearing a height of 13'1.5". Senior Andrew Stein (Lindenhurt, Ill./Lake Community) also finished second in the triple jump, taking off for a distance of 39'11.25".

The women’s 4x400m relay team of seniors Sannie Anderson (Hesperia, Mich./Hesperia) and Annalisa Krug (Battlecreek, Mich./Pennfield) along with junior Katie Wineman (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) and freshman Trisha King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) took the top spot with a time of 4:07.84.

In the 4x800m relay, the Thunder finished second with a time of 10:41.29 by the team of senior Abby Samuels (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Central), sophomore Kelly Scholer (Muncie, Ind./Yorktown) and the freshmen duo of Courtney Forsythe (West Mansfield, Ohio/Benjamin Logan) and Gabbie Bates (Hesperia, Mich./Hesperia).

Bates also picked up a second place finish in the 3,000m run, completing the race in a time of 11:30.92.

Freshman Kassi Ellsworth (Saugerties, N.Y./Kingston) came away with a pair of second place finished in the 60m hurdles and 200m. In the hurdles, Ellsworth came home in a time of 10.15 while finishing the 200m race with a time of 28.92.

Trine will host their final indoor meet of the season on February 23 with the Trine Invitational #3 beginning at 11:00 a.m.
