TRINE’S BOURDO AND STUTZMAN TAKE ON DI SCHOOLS

AKRON, Ohio - Two member of the Trine University men’s track and field team headed to the University of Akron for the Akron Invitational on February 2, and came back with two first place finishes. Competing against several Division I schools, Trine senior Dustin Stutzman (Topeka, Ind./Westview) and sophomore Tyler Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg) proved they could hold their own.

In the 400m Blue Division, Bourdo took home first place with a time of 48.90 on the 300m track, defeating 19 other competitors, including athletes from schools like Pittsburgh, Georgia, Kent State, Akron and Howard. Bourdo currently has the ninth fastest time in Division III in the event.

Meanwhile in the shot put, Stutzman turned in a career-best throw of 15.95m (52'4") as he also took home first place in the Blue Division by nearly three feet. Stutzman out-tossed seven other competitors from Ohio State, Akron, Howard, Kent State and Division II Ashland. The throw put Stutzman with the 17th longest toss in Division III this season.
