Thunder See Success in MIAA Field Day

ALMA, MICH.-- The Trine women's track and field team had several successful performances, including one first-place finish in MIAA Field Day, which concluded Friday.

Trisha King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) turned in Trine's first-place finish on the day. King's performance came on the heels of a couple top-eight finishes by Thunder performers in the first day of the event. Those performances helped the Thunder earn 18 points, which was good enough for seventh in the event. MIAA Field Day serves as the official championship for the conference. The top eight competitors in each event earned points for their respective teams. Alma College hosted this year's event at Bahlke Field. Calvin won the Field Day women's title with 274.50 points.

King won the 800-Meter Run with a time of 2:13.20. The junior blew away the rest of the field, winning the event by over five seconds.

The 4 x 400 Relay team placed sixth in the event with a time of 4:24.81. Names of the Trine performers in the event were not made available on the official timing results sheet.Thunder competitors in the event will be recognized when that information is made available.

On day one of the competition, Hallie Roof-Hildreth (Jasper, Mich./Sand Creek) set a personal-record by nearly a foot in the Pole Vault to place fifth. Sloan Davis (Charlotte, Mich./Olivet) placed eighth in the Hammer Throw.

Trine will compete in the Louisville Twilight next Friday, May 9.
