King Named Academic All-District

ANGOLA, IND.-- Trine's Trisha King has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District® Women's Track and Field/Cross Country team.

King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) earned All-American honors in the 800-Meter Run during the Indoor Track and Field season after placing fifth in the nation at the Indoor National Championships. The junior also advanced to the National Championships during the Outdoor season and recorded the 18th-best preliminary time in the nation at the event. The 2014 Capital One Academic All-District® Track and Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All-America teams programs since 2011.

King has excelled in the classroom during her time at Trine, holding a 3.85 GPA as a Math Education major. King earned First-Team All-MIAA honors during the Outdoor Track and Field season and broke the school-record in the 1500-Meter Run. She set new Trine Indoor and Outdoor records in the 800-Meter Run this season.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

The Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the third year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored.

The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
