King Earns Academic All-American Honors

ANGOLA, IND.-- Trine's Trisha King has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Women's Track and Field/Cross Country team.

King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) earned Third-Team honors to become the first Capital One Academic All-American® in Trine women's track and field history. The honor caps off a season that saw the junior earn All-American honors in the 800-Meter Run during the Indoor Track and Field season. She placed fifth in the nation at the Indoor Track and Field National Championships at University of Nebraska to earn the distinction. King also earned a trip to the National Championships of the 800-Meter Run and recorded the 18th-best preliminary time in the nation at the event. The 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Track and Field/Cross Country teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of American, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

King has excelled in the classroom during her time at Trine, holding a 3.85 GPA as a Math Education major. King earned First-Team All-MIAA honors during the Outdoor Track and Field season and broke the school-record in the 1500-Meter Run. She set new Trine Indoor and Outdoor records in the 800-Meter Run this season.

The Capital One Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2013-14 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
