ANGOLA, IND.-- The Trine women's track and field team is set to open the season this Friday when they host the Trine Conditioner Meet at Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center.
The Thunder return several key performers from last season, headlined by 800 M All-American Trisha King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold). As a junior, King placed fifth in the nation at the NCAA Division III National Championships. She is the school-record holder in the 800 M. King is also expected to give Trine a solid performer in other mid-distance events. The senior competed in events ranging from the 300 M to the One-Mile during last year's Indoor season.
Courtney Forsythe (West Mansfield, Ohio/Benjamin Logan), Kelsey Ortiz (Swanton, Ohio/Anthony Wayne), and Heather Richardson (Fort Wayne, Ind/South Side) showed steady improvement throughout the cross country season. They will look to carry those performances over to the Indoor season.
Trine returns an improving core of throwers, led by Sloan Davis (Charlotte, Mich./Olivet), Jennifer Steyer (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton), and Kayla Keith (Munster, Ind./Munster). Each thrower competes in multiple throwing events.
Hallie Roof-Hildreth (Jasper, Mich./Sand Creek) topped nine feet in the Pole Vault for the first time in the final Outdoor event last season, and will look to build on that performance this winter.
This season's roster includes 10 freshman and 11 total newcomers. The new additions to the roster are expected to compete for spots and provide both depth and impact for the Thunder this season.
The Trine Conditioner opens the season this Friday, Dec. 5. Field events begin at 5 p.m., with running events beginning at 5:30 p.m. For a schedule of events, CLICK HERE.
