King's First-Place Finish Highlights Wide Track Classic

HILLSDALE, Mich.-- Trisha King won the 800 M to highlight Trine's performance in the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic, held Friday and Saturday at Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center.

King topped a field of Division-II and NAIA runners with a time of 2:13.30. That mark ranks the senior first in the nation among times submitted to TFRRS at the time of writing, and is a season-best by over two seconds. King earned All-American recognition in the event last season with the nation's fifth-best time.

Kara Eck (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) finished fifth in the Weight Throw with a toss of 54 feet, 6.75 inches. She added an 11th-place finish in the Shot Put. Jennifer Steyer (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton) added another strong Weight Throw performance at 48 feet, 1.75 inches.

Kelsey Ortiz (Swanton, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) notched a fifth place finish in the 5K for Trine's best finish in a distance event. Ortiz crossed the finish-line in 19:38.05. Courtney Forsythe (West Mansfield, Ohio/Benjamin Logan) added an 11th-place finish in the 3K.

Codee Colby (Michigan Center, Mich./Michigan Center) notched a personal-best throw of 35 feet, 10.5 inches in the Shot Put. Hallie Roof-Hildreth (Jasper, Mich./Sand Creek) topped nine feet in the Pole Vault for the first time in an indoor event.
