Thunder Performers Set Personal-Bests at Defiance

DEFIANCE, Ohio-- Trine track and field performers set three personal-bests in the Defiance College Open, held Friday at George M. Smart Athletic Center.

Patrick Richardville (Leo, Ind./Leo) ran a personal-best 7:12 mark in the final of the 60 M at the Defiance College Open. The freshman placed second in the event. Tyler Niehoff (Wheatfield, Ind./Kankakee Valley) set a PR in the Shot Put at a distance of 46 feet, 10.25 inches. That performance also placed second.

Andrew Bunting (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick), Dakota Bagwell (Kokomo, Ind./Western) and Sam Gilly (St. Joseph, Ill./St. Joseph-Ogden) placed third-through-fifth in the Weight Throw. Bagwell's throw was a personal-best 50 feet, 0.75 inches. 

James Gregory (Warsaw, Ind./Tippecanoe Valley) added a third-place finish in the 60 M Hurdles.

Kara Eck (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) placed first in the Weight Throw and second in the Shot Put at Defiance. Eck's winning throw was 52 feet, 2.25 inches, while her Shot Put toss came in at 39 feet, 1.25 inches.

Jennifer Steyer (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton) added a Weight Throw of 47 feet, 11 inches to place third. Ashtyn Capen (Saint Louis, Mich/Saint Louis) turned in the fifth-best time in the 60 M Hurdle preliminaries.

Trine will host the Jon and Carol Liechty Alumni Invitational next Saturday, Feb. 21. Events begin at 10 a.m.
