Throwers See Success at Hillsdale Tune-Up

HILLSDALE, Mich.-- Trine's throwers saw success in the Hillsdale Tune Up, held Saturday at Margot V. Bierman Athletic Center.

Kara Eck (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) tied her own Trine indoor Shot Put record with a throw of 42 feet, 6.25 inches. That throw was good enough for first. Eck also placed second in the Weight Throw with a distance of 52 feet, 10.75 inches. Jenn Steyer (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton) placed fourth in the Weight Throw, turning in a distance of 49 feet, 1.5 inches.

Andrew Bunting (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) won the Weight Throw with a distance of 51 feet, 3.75 inches. Teammate Sam Gilly (St. Joseph, Ill./St. Joseph-Ogden) finished just behind with a throw of 50 feet, 9.5 inches. The duo topped a field that included performers from NCAA Division, I, II and III.

Trine will host the Trine Indoor Championships next Saturday, Feb. 28. While not an official MIAA-sponsored meet, the event will feature all MIAA teams that sponsor indoor track and field. Events begin at noon
