Eck Earns All-America Honors; King Competes at Nationals

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- Trine's Kara Eck earned All-America honors in the Weight Throw with her performance in the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships Friday afternoon.

Eck (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) was at her best in her first-career appearance on the national stage. Her throw of 57 feet, 7.5 inches set a new school-record as she earned the first All-America honors of her collegiate career. Eck's throw placed her sixth in the nation, topping her previous school-record performance set last weekend by four inches. The performance capped off a solid debut indoor season at Trine for Eck, as she improved on her first school-record performance by four feet over the course of the season.

Trisha King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) competed in the 800 M, but fell just short of qualifying for the championship race as she finished ninth in preliminaries. The performance capped off the indoor season for King. The senior qualified for two indoor national meets, earning All-America honors last winter.

The NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships are being hosted by Roanoke College at the JDL Fast Track. Trine's Tyler Bourdo earned All-America honors on the men's side and will compete for the 400 M championship tomorrow afternoon.

The two performances ended the indoor season for the Trine women's track and field team. Eck, King and the rest of the Thunder will get the outdoor season underway Saturday, Mar. 28 at the Vanderbilt University Black and Gold Meet.
