NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- The Trine women's track and field team had several successful performances to open the outdoor season at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Meet.
Highlighting the performances was a school-record Hammer Throw for Kara Eck (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb). The freshman set a new school mark by 18 feet, throwing a distance of 152 feet, 10.5 inches to place third. Eck also placed fourth in the Shot Put and 10th in the Discus. The Vanderbilt Black and Gold Meet featured a majority of performers from NCAA Division I and II institutions.
Trine's top performance elsewhere was turned in by Courtney Forsythe (West Mansfield, Ohio/Benjamin Logan). The junior placed seventh in the 2000 M Steeple, with a time of 7:34.74.
Jenn Steyer (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton) and Codee Colby (Michigan Center, Mich./Michigan Center) rounded out the notable performances for the Thunder in throwing events. Steyer placed eighth in the Hammer Throw with a throw of 139 feet, 9.50 inches to top her previous personal-best by 21 feet. Colby placed 11th in the Shot Put with a distance of 33 feet, 6 inches.

Trine returns to action next Saturday, Apr. 4 at the DePauw Invitational. Events are slated to begin at 11 a.m.
