Eck Picks Up MIAA Honors for Third-Straight Week

FREELAND, Mich.-- For the third-consecutive week, Kara Eck has been named MIAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

Eck (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) won the shot put and hammer throw at Saturday's MIAA Jamboree at Adrian College. The freshman threw a distance of 41 feet, 5.25 inches to win the shot put and notched a throw of 146 feet, 6 inches to finish first in the hammer throw. Eck added a second-place finish in the discus with a throw of 118 feet, 8 inches. She is being honored as Athlete of the Week for the third time this season .

The strong stort to the outdoor season has followed an indoor campaign that saw Eck place sixth in the nation to earn All-America honors in the weight throw. Eck currently ranks 27th in the nation in the shot put and 39th in the hammer throw. She has set new school-records in the hammer throw, weight throw and shot put since the beginning of the indoor season.

Trine will compete in Grand Valley State University's Al Owens Invitational, this Saturday, Apri. 18.
