Thunder Women Place Sixth at Field Day

ALBION, Mich.-- The Trine women's track and field team placed sixth at MIAA Field Day, hosted by Albion College.

Thunder performers earned the team 49 points to jump up one spot from last year's performance in the conference championship meet. Three fifth-place finishes highlighted the day two performance. Trine had four top-three finishes, including one first-place on the first day of the meet.

Courtney Forsythe (West Mansfield, Ohio/Benjamin Logan) placed fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:54.17. The performance marked an improvement of over a minute on her time in the event from last-year's Field Day.

Codee Colby (Michigan Center, Mich./Michigan Center) placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 5 inches. The freshman's performance in the conference meet also included a personal-record in the hammer throw yesterday.

Trisha King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) concluded her collegiate career with a fifth-place finish in the javelin throw. The senior was an Indoor All-American in the 800-meter dash and had two other National Championship appearances in her career.

Kelsey Ortiz (Swanton, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) added a seventh-place finish in the 5K.

Trine's performances on day one included a first-place finish and new school-record for Kara Eck (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) in the hammer throw.
