Eck, Steyer Compete in Hammer Throw at North Central

NAPERVILLE, Ill.-- Trine's Kara Eck and Jenn Steyer competed in the NCC Gregory Final Qualifier Track and Field Meet, hosted by North Central College.

Eck (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) placed seventh in the hammer throw with a distance of 161 feet, 2 inches. Eck is currently ranked 17th in the nation after a school-record throw of 169 feet, 1 inch in the Hillsdale Last-Chance Classic. Should that ranking hold in the top 20, the performance would be good enough for a national championship invite.

Steyer (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton) closed out a strong sophomore campaign with a 13th-place performance in the hammer throw. Steyer's throw was 141 feet, 11 inches. Since her first performance as a freshman last season, Steyer has improved her hammer throw by over 30 feet.

Eck will await a potential bid to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, slated for May 21-23 in Canton, N.Y.
