King Earns Academic All-America Honors

ANGOLA, Ind.-- For the second-consecutive year, Trine's Trisha King has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Women's Track and Field/Cross Country team.

King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) is just the second student-athlete in school history to receive Academic All-America® honors twice, as she earned third-team honors for the second time. The honor put the finishing touches on a season that saw the senior qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships in the 800-meter run. King ended up running the ninth-best time in the nation at the meet. The 2015 Capital One Academic All-America® Track and Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

King excelled in the classroom during her time at Trine, earning a 3.89 G.P.A. while working towards a degree in math education. She concluded her track career having earned All-America honors in the 800-meter run during the 2013-14 indoor season. King qualified for the national meet in the event three times between the indoor and outdoor seasons in her Trine career.

Though an injury cut her time on the track short during this outdoor season, King was able to compete in the javelin throw at MIAA Field Day. She placed fifth in the conference championship in her first time competing the event. King earned All-MIAA First Team recognition during her junior season.

The Capital One Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2014-15 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
