Thunder set Two School-Records in Opening Meet

ANGOLA, Ind.--The Trine women's track and field team set two new school records in the season-opening Trine Conditioner, held Saturday at Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center.

Lydia Suchecki (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake) set a new mark in the high jump to place first. The sophomore broke her own program-best mark with a jump of five feet, one inch. Suchecki's performance was one of three first-place finishes on the day for the Thunder.

Kara Eck (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) paced a strong effort by Trine throwers with a new program-best mark in the shot put. Her throw of 44 feet, four inches broker her old school record by just over two feet.

Eck and Jenn Steyer (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton) dominated the weight throw to take home the top two spots. Each thrower topped 50 feet and were seperated by just one foot of throwing distance.

Codee Colby (Michigan Center, Mich./Michigan Center) added a personal-best throw of 46 feet, 2.75 inches to place sixth in the weight throw. Colby's throw topped her previous personal-mark by nearly four feet.

Freshman Jensyn Garrow (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) added a third-place finish in the 600-meter run. Rounding out Trine's notable performers was freshman Lydia Walterhouse (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble), who led the Thunder in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes in her first collegiate meet.
