ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine women's track and field team set a new school record and saw numerous performers set new personal-best marks in the Don and Riley Zimmer Indoor Classic, held Friday at Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center.
For the second time this season, freshman Lydia Walterhouse (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) set a new program record in the 60-meter Hurdles. Walterhouse ran a time of 9.58 seconds in the event to beat her previous time by .13 seconds. The freshman also ran a personal-best time of 8.63 seconds in the preliminaries of the 60-meter Dash.
Kara Eck (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) added wins in the Shot Put and Weight Throw. Eck is ranked fifth in the nation ithe Weight Throw and ninth in the Shot Put.
Jenn Steyer (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton) set personal-bests in both the Weight Throw and Shot Put. Steyer's new personal-record throw of 52 feet, one inch moved her into 21st in the nation in the Weight Throw. Her new personal-best mark in the Shot Put was measured at 32 feet, 7.5 inches.
Kelsey Ortiz (Swanton, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) added a new personal-record in the 5K to place second. The junior's time of 18:59.37 seconds topped her previous-best by 11 seconds.
Kyla Binfet (West Yellowstone, Mont./West Yellowstone) notched a second-place finish in the 3000-meter Run. The sophomore's time of 11:17.20 came in her first time competing in the event at the collegiate level.
Gigi Jarratt (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) added a new personal-best mark in the One Mile Run. Jarratt ran a time of 5:41.15 to place fifth.
