Thunder Wrap-Up Performance at Hillsdale

HILLSDALE, Mich.-- The Trine women's track and field team wrapped up its performance in the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic Saturday.

Lydia Suchecki (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake) tied a school record in the high jump to highlight the team's performance in the event. The sophomore cleared five feet, one inch to match her own program-best mark. She set the previous school-record earlier this season in the Trine Conditioner.

Lacie Piekarski (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake) notched the lone first-place finish on the day for the Thunder. The freshman ran a time of 19:06 in the 5000-meter run. Piekarski's time beat the rest of the field by over 50 seconds. The win was the first of her collegiate career.

Elsewhere on the track, freshman Hannah Blystone (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) capped off a strong weekend with a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run. Blystone's time in her first-ever official race in the event was 2:34.03. The performance adds to her third-place finish in the Mile run yesterday.

Kara Eck (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) added an eighth-place finish in the shot put. The sophomore's best toss was measured at 40 feet, 11 inches. That throw was the best Division III performance by over five feet. Eck also placed eighth in the weight throw yesterday.
