Steyer, Suchecki earn All-Conference Honors

FREELAND, Mich.-- Trine's Jenn Steyer and Lydia Suchecki have been named to the All-MIAA Women's Track and Field team, the conference announced Tuesday.

Steyer (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton) set a new personal-best in the weight throw at the inaugural MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championship. Her throw of 53 feet, 3.75 inches was good enough to take first. The win was Steyer's first in a conference event. The junior's performance is ranked 31st in the nation in NCAA Division III. Steyer also set a personal-best in the shot put at the meet.

Suchecki (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake) notched the first win of the day for the Thunder in the championship meet. The sophomore won the high jump, clearing a height of 5 feet, 0.5 inches to narrowly miss tying her own school record. Suchecki earned gold in a conference meet for the first time in her career.

Steyer and Suchecki are the first two Trine women to earn all-conference honors in the MIAA Indoor season. This is the first winter the conference has sponsored indoor track and field as a varsity sport.

Led by Steyer and Suchecki's performances, the Thunder placed fifth in the first-ever MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championship.
