FREELAND, Mich.-- Trine's Kara Eck has been named the MIAA Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Eck (Auburn, Ind. / DeKalb) earned two top-five finishes in the 17-team Hanover Invitational. The sophomore placed third in the shot put with a throw of 41 feet, 4.5 inches. She placed fourth overall and third among collegiate performers in the hammer throw, coming away with a distance of 160 feet, 2 inches. Eck has now earned four Field Athlete of the Week honors during the outdoor season in her career. This is first outdoor honor of this spring.

Eck is coming off her second-consecutive indoor campaign with All-America honors. She placed fourth in the nation in the shot put this season after finishing sixth in the nation in weight throw in 2015. Eck earned a trip to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in the hammer throw last spring.

Trine returns to action Saturday, Apr. 9 at Taylor University's George Glass Invitational. Events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
