ANGOLA, Ind.-- Trine's Kara Eck has been named a finalist for HERO Sports D3 Women's Track and Field Hero of the Week award.

Eck was named the MIAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week after setting a school-record in the hammer throw at last weekend's Hillsdale GINA Relays. Eck's new program-record throw was measured at 179 feet, 1 inch. She also placed third in the shot put.
Eck is currently ranked second in the nation in the shot put and fourth in the hammer throw. The two-time All-American is seeking her second-straight trip to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.
The Trine women's track and field team will compete in MIAA Field Day Thursday, May 5 and Friday, May 6. Field Day serves as the conference's outdoor championship meet.
