Eck Places Ninth in Shot Put at National Championships

WAVERLY, Iowa-- Trine's Kara Eck placed ninth in the shot put at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships Friday afternoon at Wartburg College.

Eck (Auburn, Ind. / DeKalb) notched a throw of 44 feet, 5.25 inches (13.54 meters) in the performance. Eck's efforts fell just shy of All-America status in the event. The sophomore's top distance in the shot put came in her fourth throw of the day.

Eck wrapped up her season's performance in the shot put having earned two national bids in the event. She earned All-America honors in the shot put during the Indoor season.

Eck will wrap up her performance in the Outdoor National Championships tomorrow as she competes in the hammer throw. The event is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. CST.
