Gales' School Record Highlights Efforts at Oiler Open

FINDLAY, Ohio -- A school-record performance highlighted the efforts of the Trine women's track and field team at the University of Findlay Oiler Open.

Freshman Jenna Gales (Mendon, Mich. / Mendon) set a new program-best mark in the 200-meter dash. Her time was clocked at 27.17 seconds, which eclipsed the old school record of 27.30. Jensyn Garrow (Archbold, Ohio / Archbold) also topped the previous record with a time of 27.27 seconds.

Gales and Garrow also earned the highest-placing individual finishes of the day for the Thunder in the 400-meter dash. Garrow placed second in 1:00.22, while Gales placed just behind in third at 1:00.33. Freshman Massie Jo Maskow (Howe, Ind. / Lakeland) also finished in the top 10, placing eighth with a time of 1:04.61.

The duo of Gales and Garrow made up half of Trine's 4-x-400-meter relay team, which placed third. Gales, Garrow, Hope Scholma (Montpelier, Ohio / Montpelier) and Kaylyn Forrest (Cassopolis, Mich. / Ross-Beatty) ran a time of 4:11.88, four seconds shy of the school record. All four runners are underclassmen.

Yesterday, Kara Eck (Auburn, Ind. / DeKalb) placed third in the weight throw to highlight the performance of Thunder competitors in field events.
