Eck Sets School Record at Findlay

FINDLAY, Ohio -- Trine's Kara Eck set a new school record in the weight throw Saturday at the Findlay Classic and Elite Throws Competition.

Eck (Auburn, Ind. / DeKalb) unleashed a throw of 17.58 meters (57 feet, 8.25 inches) to eclipse her own old school mark. The junior finished first to top a field otherwise composed mostly of NCAA Division I and II competitors. Eck's throw is the sixth-best in NCAA Division III this season.

A two-time Indoor All-American, Eck is on track to return to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships this year. Eck last earned All-America honors in the weight throw as a freshman, and earned All-America honors in the shot put as a sophomore.

In addition to her excellence in the weight throw, Eck is also in the mix to return to the national meet in the shot put. She is ranked 23rd in the nation in that event.

The Trine women's track and field team returns to action Saturday, Feb. 4 at the IWU Midwest Classic. Events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
