Personal Records Highlight Emory Invitational Performance

ATLANTA, Ga. -- A pair of personal records highlighted the performance of the Trine women's track and field team on day two of the Emory Invitational.

Kyla Binfet (West Yellowstone, Mont. / West Yellowstone) notched the best performance of the day with a new PR in the 5,000-meter run. Binfet set a new personal-best mark by 27 seconds with a time of 18:31.35. She placed fourth for the highest finish by a Thunder performer on day two of the meet.

Hannah Blystone (Carmel, Ind. / Carmel) also set a personal-record in the 1,500-meter run. Blystone won the unseeded division of the race with a time of 4:55.87, a performance that was good enough for the seventh-best time overall in the event. Blystone also notched a 2:28.55 time in the 800-meter run.

On day one of the meet, Kelsey Ortiz (Swanton, Ohio / Anthony Wayne) and Jenn Steyer (Fenton, Mich. / Lake Fenton) led Trine with a pair of third-place finishes. Ortiz's performance came in the 10,000-meter run, while Steyer took third in the hammer throw.

Elsewhere on the track, Jenna Gales (Mendon, Mich. / Mendon) and Jensyn Garrow (Archbold, Ohio / Archbold) notched Trine's top two times in the 400-meter and 200-meter dashes. Kaylyn Forrest (Cassopolis, Mich. / Ross-Beatty) led all Thunder performers in the 100-meter dash.
