MARION, Ind. -- The Trine women's track and field team notched one first-place finish in the Indiana Wesleyan Polar Invitational Saturday.
The 4-x-400-meter relay team accounted for the team's win. Kaylyn Forrest (Cassopolis, Mich. / Ross-Beatty), Jensyn Garrow (Archbold, Ohio / Archbold), Rebecca Flora (Greenfield, Ind. / Greenfield Central) and Jenna Gales (Mendon, Mich. / Mendon) combined for a time of 4:08.09, more than two seconds better than the second-place finisher. The performance came in a field consisting mostly of NAIA performers and was 10 seconds better than the second-best Division III time. The time ranks 21st in the nation.
Flora and Gales also notched top-10 finishes in the 800-meter run. Flora placed seventh in her debut, while Gales placed ninth.
Thunder runners also saw success in the 1,500-meter run, with two top-five finishes. Kyla Binfet (West Yellowstone, Mont. / West Yellowstone) notched a fourth-place finish with a personal-best time of 5:04.28. Kelsey Ortiz (Swanton, Ohio / Anthony Wayne) placed in fifth at 5:04.36, also a personal-best.
Andrea Hagar added 10th-place finishes in the discus throw and javelin throw.
