UPLAND, Ind. -- Trine's Kara Eck set a school record to improve her national rank in the hammer throw to highlight the efforts of the women's track and field team in the Indiana Little States Championship at Taylor University.
Eck (Auburn, Ind. / DeKalb) moved into second place in the nation with her performance in the hammer throw. She won the event by nearly three meters with a toss of 57.62 meters (189 feet). The throw broke her old school mark by nearly eight feet. The junior added a fourth-place throw in the shot put with a distance of 13.36 meters (43 feet, 10 inches). Her effort in the shot put moved her into 15th in the nation.
Jenn Steyer (Fenton, Mich. / Lake Fenton) notched a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw. The senior unleashed a throw of 48.25 meters (158 feet, 4 inches). Steyer is currently ranked 20th in the nation in the hammer throw.
Andrea Hagar (Goshen, Ind. / Fairfield) continued to build on her strong performances of late with a new personal-best in the discus throw. The freshman placed seventh with a throw of 39.49 meters (129 feet, 7 inches). She added an eighth-place finish in the javelin throw and an 11th-place effort in the hammer throw.
Jensyn Garrow (Archbold, Ohio / Archbold) and Rebecca Flora (Greenfield, Ind. / Greenfield Central) each qualified for the 400-meter dash finals. Garrow ran a time of 1:00.91, while Flora finished just be
The Indiana Little States Championship mostly consists of performers from NAIA and NCAA Division II institutions. Trie was one of just two NCAA Division III teams to send performers to the meet.
