Hagar Sets Record for Second Consecutive Day

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Trine's Andrea Hagar set a school record in the discus for the second consecutive day as part of Grand Valley State University's 2nd to Last Chance Meet.

Hagar (Goshen, Ind. / Fairfield) unleashed a toss of 43.29 meters (142 feet) to set a program mark on back-to-back days. The freshman broke her own record by half a meter. Today's performance moved Hagar into 23rd in the nation in the discus. She is competing for one of 20 bids to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship. Hagar placed 11th as the best Division III performer in today's meet.

Jenn Steyer (Fenton, Mich. / Lake Fenton) competed in the hammer throw and placed 13th. The senior came away with a throw of 48.61 meters (159 feet, 6 inches). Steyer is ranked 23rd in the nation in the hammer throw as she seeks to cap off her senior season with her first bid to the national meet.

Members of the Trine women's track and field team will continue to compete in last-chance meets over the next eight days to try to earn or solidify bids to the national meet. The national championship will be held May 25-27 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
