Throwers Compete in Last Chance Meet

DELAWARE, Ohio -- Three members of the Trine women's track and field team competed in the Great Lakes Last Chance Meet Thursday at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Kara Eck (Auburn, Ind. / DeKalb) won the hammer throw with a toss of 55.09 meters (180 feet, 9 inches). The performance served as a tune-up for Eck's upcoming performance in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship. She is ranked second in the nation in the hammer throw. Eck added a throw of 13.79 meters (45 feet, 3 inches) in the shot put to place third. She is ranked 17th in the nation in the shot put, currently good enough for a nationals bid.

Jenn Steyer (Fenton, Mich. / Lake Fenton) added a second-place finish in the hammer throw. The senior threw a distance of 50.67 meters (166 feet, 3 inches). Steyer is ranked 27th in the nation in the hammer throw. She would need to move into the top 20 by the end of the weekend to receive a nationals bid.

Andrea Hagar (Goshen, Ind. / Fairfield) placed fourth in the discus. The freshman came away with a throw of 43.05 meters (141 feet, 3 inches). Hagar is ranked 27th in the nation in the event and would need to move into the top 20 in the nation by the end of the weekend to earn an invite to the national meet.
