Eck Places 11th in Shot Put at National Championships

GENEVA, Ohio -- Trine's Kara Eck placed 11th in the shot put Friday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.

Eck (Auburn, Ind. / DeKalb) came away with a  throw of 13.59 meters (44 feet, 7 inches) to earn the placing. The junior entered the national meet seeded 20th. Her efforts today fell just short of earning All-America honors.

Eck will compete in the hammer throw championship tomorrow at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.

An All-American performance by Eck in tomorrow's hammer throw championship would make her the most decorated All-American in any sport in the 133-year history of the school. Eck is seeking the fifth All-America honor of her career. She placed fifth in the hammer throw to earn All-America honors at least year's championship meet.

The NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships are being held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
