Thunder Women Compete at Indiana Tech

FORT WAYNE, IND.  --  Members of the Trine University women's track and field team traveled to Fort Wayne, Ind. to compete at Indiana Tech and the unscored Circle Logistics Warrior Invite.

Trine had two competitors finish in the top-20 in the prelims of the 60-meter dash in sophomore duo Hope Scholma (Montpelier, Ohio/Montpelier) and Jenna Gales (Mendon, Mich./Mendon).  Scholma placed 16th in time of 8.20 seconds and Gales was 19th with a mark of 8.31 seconds.

In the 400-meter dash, Gales posted a top-five time of 1:00.64 to finish fourth overall.  Joining her in the top-10 was junior Jensyn Garrow (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) who was eighth in a time of 1:01.58.  

Gales also had the top overall time for Trine in the 200-meter dash of 26.95 seconds which put her in 21st place out of 44 competitors.

Highlighting the field events was a fourth-place finish by freshman Abigail Kuhlman (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) in the pole vault with a height of 9' 1.00" (2.77m).  Kuhlman also competed in the long jump and placed 15th with a leap of 16' 4.50" (4.99m).

The Thunder women will next compete on Saturday, Jan. 20 when they host the Keith Turner Alumni Invitational.  The first events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
