Trine Women Compete at Ball State Challenge

MUNCIE, IND.  --  Senior Kyla Binfet (West Yellowstone, Mont./West Yellowstone) placed seventh in the 5000-meter run to help lead the Trine University women's track and field team at the unscored Ball State University Challenge in Muncie, Ind.

Binfet's seventh-place showing in the 5000-meter run was the top individual finish for Trine in the running events.  She completed the race in a time of 18:48.93.

The other top mark for the Thunder women came in the 800-meter run and turned in by freshman Evonne Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) who posted a time of 2:22.63 and was the 13th fastest mark in the event.

In the field events, freshman Jenny Flora (Greenfield, Ind./Greenfield Central) placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 100' 6.75" (30.65 meters).  

Sophomore Andrea Hagar (Goshen, Ind./Fairfield) competed in a pair of events and finished in the top-15 in both the hammer (14th) after a best toss of 131' 4.00" (40.03 meters) and the discus (15th) following a throw of 119' 11.25" (36.56 meters).

Freshman Abigail Kuhlman (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) also competed in two events and recorded a best finish of 10th in the pole vault and cleared the bar at 9' 5.75" (2.89 meters).  She went on to place 12th in the long jump following a best leap of 16' 6.50" (5.04 meters) and finished a half inch short of tying the school outdoor record.
