ANGOLA, IND. -- Trine University's Kara Eck (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Eck helped lead the Thunder women to a sixth-place finish at the Indiana Little State Championships over the weekend where she finished as runner-up in the hammer throw with a distance of 170' 9.00" (52.06 meters). Her mark in the event was the ninth farthest to date in NCAA Division III.
She also competed in the shot put and placed fifth after a throw of 41' 7.00" (12.67 meters).
Trine is scheduled to compete in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Outdoor Championships on Thursday-Friday, May 3-4 hosted by Adrian College in Adrian, Mich. The first day's events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
