McCarter Breaks School Indoor Record at Indianapolis Opener

INDIANAPOLIS, IND.  --  Freshman Te'Shiya McCarter set a school record in the indoor 60-meter dash to lead the Trine University women's track & field team at the unscored University of Indianapolis Opener in Indianapolis, Ind.

McCarter recorded her school-record time in the finals of the 60-meter dash and crossed the finish line in 8.05 seconds to place eighth overall.  McCarter's time was one one-hundreth of a second faster than the previous mark of 8.06 seconds that was set last year by Hope Scholma.

Massie Jo Maskow also recorded a top individual finish on the day by placing in seventh place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:35.75.

McCarter and Maskow joined up with teammates Jensyn Garrow and Morgan Spade to compete in the 4x400-meter relay and placed third overall after recording a combined time of 4:23.71.

In the field events, Stephanie Hartpence had the top overall finish for the Thunder of fifth place in the high jump after clearing the bar at 4' 9.75".

Mackenzie Bristol posted a top-10 mark in the pole vault with a best height attempt of 9' 6.50".

Three Trine competitors placed in the top-10 in the shot put, led by Andrea Hagar who finished sixth overall with a best throw of 35' 8.00".  Anna Kmec and Valerie Obear also placed in the top-10 with Kmec finishing two spots back of Hagar in eighth place following a throw of 33' 3.00".  Obear was ninth after recording a best attempt of 32' 8.50".

Hagar and Obear also competed in the weight throw and placed back-to-back in seventh and eighth place after throws of 41' 9.25" and 40' 6.00", respectively.

Trine will next compete at the Circle Logistics Warrior Invite hosted by Indiana Tech next Saturday, Dec. 8 in Fort Wayne, Ind.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
