Women's Track & Field Competes at Aaron Porter Invite

FORT WAYNE, IND.  --  Senior Jensyn Garrow (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) captured the 200-meter dash to help lead the Trine University women's indoor track & field team at the unscored Circle Logistics Aaron Porter Invite hosted by Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Garrow was the lone event winner for the Thunder after turning in a time of 26.49 seconds in the 200-meter dash to take top honors.  Freshman Te'Shiya McCarter (Fort Wayne, Ind./Woodlan) also competed in the event and placed in the top-10 with a time of 27.18 seconds which was good enough for ninth place.

The other top performance for the Trine women in the running events was recorded by junior Massie Jo Maskow (Howe, Ind./Lakeland) in the 800-meter run.  Maskow completed the race in a time of 2:40.37 and placed sixth overall.

In field events, junior Andrea Hagar (Goshen, Ind./Fairfield) had a pair of top-five finishes in the weight throw and shot put events.  Hagar recorded a best toss of 46' 8.25" (14.23 meters) in the weight throw to place fifth overall.  In the shot put, she posted a fifth-place showing following a throw of 34' 7.50" (11.06 meters).

Freshman Valerie Obear (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) joined Hagar in the weight throw and finished in the top-10 after a best effort of 40' 6.00" (12.34 meters).

In the pole vault, Trine had four competitors who claimed second through fifth places.  Freshmen Autumn Presley (Pleasant Lake, Ind./Angola), Mackenzie Bristol (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) and sophomore Abigail Kuhlman (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) all cleared a height of 9' 5.00" (2.87 meters) to lead the four vaulters.  Presley would finish in second place, Bristol was third and Kuhlman was fourth. 

Rounding out the top finishes was freshman Stephanie Hartpence (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) who placed second in the high jump at 4' 8.75" (1.44 meters).

The women's indoor track & field team will be idle until January when it hosts the Sean Brady/Keith Turner Alumni Open on Saturday, Jan. 12 in Angola.  The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
