Women's Track Competes at Hillsdale Wide-Track Classic

HILLSDALE, MICH.  --  The Trine University women's track and field team placed 10th at the Hillsdale (Mich.) College Wide-Track Classic that saw one school record fall in the Distance Medley Relay.

The team of seniors Hannah Blystone (Carmel, Ind./Carmel), Jensyn Garrow (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold), freshman Chloe Brittain (Breckenridge, Mich./Breckenridge) and sophomore Evie Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) posted an overall time of 12:15.01 in the distance medley relay to take third place overall and set a school record in the event.  The time in the event currently ranks as the fourth quickest in NCAA Division III.

Trine also had a high finishing team in the 4x400-meter relay in fifth place out of 14 entries with same quartet that competed in the distance medley relay recording an overall time of 4:07.35.

Individually, Bultemeyer captured the 800-meter run "Championship" with a time of 2:13.61 and will also rank her fifth nationally in the event.  

Garrow placed in the top-five in the 400-meter dash "Championship" in a time of 1:00.37 out of eight total runners.

Rounding out the top-10 finishes in the running events for Trine was a runner-up finish by Brittain in the mile run with a time of 5:18.54.

Leading the way in the field events was sophomore Abigail Kuhlman (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) who placed in a tie for second in the pole vault after a best effort of 9' 7.00".  Joining Kuhlman in the pole vault was freshman Mackenzie Bristol (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) and placed in a tie for fourth after clearing the bar at 8' 7.00."

In addition, junior Andrea Hagar (Goshen, Ind./Fairfield) had a top-10 showing in the weight throw among a field of 41 competitors in ninth place after a toss of 48' 8.75."

Up next for Trine will be the Pat Heenan Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) College on Friday, Feb. 8 in Naperville, Ill.  The first events are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. CST.
