Bultemeyer Named MIAA Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

FREELAND, MICH.  --  Sophomore Trine University women's outdoor track runner Evie Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Track Athlete of the Week.

Bultemeyer competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the George Glass Invitational hosted by Taylor University this past weekend and won the event with a school record-setting time of 10:54.30.  Her time in the event was over 40 seconds faster than her nearest opponent and also broke the Trine record which was previously held by Kyla Binfet (11:26.29).

Bultemeyer has had an impressive start to the outdoor season already.  Her time in the steeplechase that she set this past weekend currently ranks as the fourth fastest so far this season in NCAA Division III.  She has already posted the top time in the nation in the 800-meter run at 2:10.23, also a Trine record, which she set at the season-opening Emory (Ga.) University Invitational in March.  At that same meet, Bultemeyer set another school record-setting time in the 1500-meter run of 4:29.99 and currently ranks as the second fastest time in the nation.

Trine is scheduled to compete in the Indiana D3 Championships hosted by DePauw University on Saturday, Apr. 13 in Greencastle, Ind.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
