Obear and Brittain Named MIAA Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

ANGOLA, IND.  --  Trine University indoor track & field athletes Valerie Obear (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) and Chloe Brittain (Breckenridge, Mich./Breckenridge) have been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association "Athletes of the Week."

Both athletes competed this past week at the unscored Mike Lints Alumni Open hosted by Grand Valley State (Mich.) University.  Obear took "Field Athlete of the Week" for the second straight week after finishing fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 54' 7.50."  Her mark remains as the best so far this season in the MIAA and moves her up to 18th in NCAA Division III.

Brittain placed in the top 10 in the 800-meter run and was one of three Trine runners to place in the top 20 in the event.  Brittain posted a time of 2:19.03 to take eighth place overall.  Her time ranks first in the MIAA and 46th nationally.

Trine is scheduled to compete at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mich. at the two-day Wide Track Classic next weekend (Fri-Saturday, Feb. 7-8).  The first events on Friday are set to begin at noon.
