Trine's Bultemeyer Named MIAA Runner of the Week

ANGOLA, IND.  --  Trine University's Evie Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association "Runner of the Week" in indoor track for the second time this season.

Bultemeyer competed in the Grand Valley State University Big Meet this past weekend in Allendale, Mich. and set two Trine indoor records in the 800-meter run and the mile.  Bultemeyer finished strong in both events against opponents from NCAA Division I, II and NAIA schools.  In the 800m, she finished seventh overall with a time of 2:11.96 to set a Trine indoor record by four one-hundreths of a second and surpassed Trisha King's previous mark (2:12.00) that she recorded in Feb. 2015.

Then in the mile run, Bultemeyer finished second among 82 runners placing behind only Hailey Streff from Division II Colorado State University-Pueblo in a time of 4:53.27.  Her mark also broke her own school record in the event of 4:53.48 that she set last season at the NCAA Division Indoor Championship meet.

Both times in each event were also good enough to be privisional qualifying marks at the Division II National Championship level and her marks rank as the third (800m) and second (mile) fastest nationally in Divsion III.

Up next for Trine will be the MIAA Indoor Championship which will be hosted by Trine on Saturday, Feb. 29 at the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center.  The first events are scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
