Trine Women's Indoor Track & Field Complete Day One of Elite Indoor Meet

WAVERLY, IOWA  --  Members of the Trine University women's indoor track & field team traveled to Waverly, Iowa compete in the indoor season finale Division III Elite Indoor Championships hosted by Wartburg (Iowa) College.

The Thunder currently sit in 12th place out of 24 teams with nine points.  Host Wartburg leads the team standings with 89 points, followed by Loras (Iowa) College at 40 points and the University of Dubuque (Iowa) is third with 32 points.

Trine's team points all came in the 5000-meter run by seniors Megan Theismann (Ossian, Ind./Norwell) and Elizabeth Lohman (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) who finished back-to-back in fourth and fifth place.  Theismann crossed the finish line in fourth with a time of 17:52.61 and Lohman followed in a time of 17:58.51.

Freshman Haley Livingston (Fort Worth, Texas/Everman) continued her standout indoor season in the 60-meter hurdles by breaking her own school record in the event that she set twice at last week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Indoor Championships (9.35 seconds).  Livingston ran a time of 9.24 seconds in the prelims of the 60m hurdles at the Elite Indoor Championships to qualify for tomorrow's (Saturday, Mar. 13) finals.  

Livingston also went on to compete in the triple jump and placed 11th after a leap of 35' 3.25" also breaking her indoor record mark that she recorded at the MIAA Championships (34' 8.25") a week ago.  

The D-III Elite Indoor Championships are scheduled to conclude tomorrow (Saturday, Mar. 13).  The first events will begin at 10 a.m. at Wartburg in Waverly, Iowa.
