Trine Returns to Competition at Home in the Sean Brady Alumni Open

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's track and field program hosted the Sean Brady Alumni Open on Saturday and placed fourth at the event.

In field events, junior Lia Vawter [Franklin, Ind. / Franklin] was able to tie the school record in the high jump with a 1.55-meter (5' 1") leap. Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] was able to score the most points with a first-place finish in the weight throw at 17.13 meters (56' 2.5") in the finals. Obear was also Trine's top thrower in the shot put at 10.53 meters (34' 6.75").

Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] scored points in both the long and triple jump events. Livingston just missed her own school record mark with a 5.27-meter (17' 3.5") leap, giving her fifth place overall. She was fourth in the triple jump at 10.82 meters (35' 6"). The sophomore was also a top finisher in the 60-meter hurdles in sixth at 9.48 seconds in the finals. Freshman Morgan Moslow [Highland, Ind. / Kankakee Valley] recorded a sixth-place finish in the pole vault at 2.60 meters (8' 6.25").

Carol Haldeman [Syracuse, Ind. / Fairfield] and Lydia Randolph [Jefferson, Ohio / Edgewood Senior] were 1-2 in the 3,000-meter run. Haldeman completed the race with a time of 10:46.70 and Randolph set a new best career mark at 10:55.10. Trine scored a total of 16 points in the 800-meter run, with Hannah Hawkins [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Bishop Luers] and Marissa Kenney [South Bend, Ind. / J.W. Riley] as top five finishers. The freshman Hawkins set a baseline time of 2:32.68 in the event.

Amira Faulkner [Bellbrook, Ohio / Bellbrook] and Ana Parker [White Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake Northern] both secured top-10 finishes in the mile run, with Parker setting a career mark in the event (5:36.39). The senior pair of Paige McGonigal [Coventry Twp., Ohio / Coventry] and Stephanie Hartpence [Elkhart, Ind. / Concord] led the Thunder in the 400-meter run with fifth and seventh place finishes.

Next weekend, Trine partakes in the Snow Day Invite at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois on Friday, January 21.
