Trine Competes at the University of Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Trine women's track and field program was in action on Saturday in the Windy City Rumble, hosted by the University of Chicago. The Thunder women placed third at the event with 66.5 points. The host school was the overall winner.

Evie Miller [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] was on top of the leaderboard once again in the mile run with a time of 4:53.01. Trine scored points in another distance event, the 3000-meter run. Alli Smith [Temperance, Mich. / Temperance Bedford] was sixth (11:00.60) and Chloe Goodrich [Burlington, Ind. / Carroll] crossed the line just behind her in seventh (11:03.09).

The distance medley relay team, made up of Ana Parker [White Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake Northern], Paige McGonigal [Coventry Twp., Ohio / Coventry], Marissa Kenney [South Bend, Ind. / J.W. Riley] and Lydia Randolph [Jefferson, Ohio / Edgewood Senior] placed second with a time of 13:06.36.

Leading the way in short distance events, it was Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] in the 60-meter hurdles with a second-place time of 9.12 seconds, Kennedi Sternberg [Kouts, Ind. / Kouts] in the 60-meter dash with a fifth-place finish at 8.34 seconds, and Stephanie Hartpence [Elkhart, Ind. / Concord] who crossed the line sixth in the 400-meter dash in 4:53.01.

Aubrey Larner [Williamston, Mich. / Okemos] and Lia Vawter [Franklin, Ind. / Franklin] were Trine's leaders in the high jump, tied for second at 1.51 meters (4' 11.5"). The Thunder got a pair of fifth-place finishes from Livingston in the long jump at 5.10 meters (16' 8.75") and Madelyn Summers [Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble] in the shot put at 11.11 meters (36' 5.5"). Larner and Mallory Wood [Goshen, Ind. / Goshen] each finished seventh in field events for Trine. Larner recorded a score of 9.37 meters (30' 9.0") in the triple jump, while Wood secured a score of 2.56 meters (8' 4.5") in the pole vault. Larner and Wood set new career bests in their events.

Next weekend, the Thunder make trips to Grand Valley State University on Friday, February 11 and the University of Indianapolis the next day on Saturday, February 12.
