Indoor Track and Field Championships MVPs and All-MIAA Unveiled

FREELAND, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced the 2021-22 Indoor Track and Field MVPs and All-MIAA recipients following last weekend's Indoor Championships.

On the women's side, Evie Miller [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] was named MIAA Track MVP and Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] MIAA Field MVP. It is the third time in Miller's career she has won MIAA Track MVP and Livingston makes it back-to-back Field MVP's during the indoor season.

Jake Gladieux [Oregon, Ohio / Whitmer] from the men's team has won MIAA Track MVP as well. It is his first time winning an MIAA MVP award.

All-MIAA awards were also announced, with event winners earning the title. Trine's Miller, Livingston, Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] and Autumn Presley [Pleasant Lake, Ind. / Angola] were All-MIAA recipients.

Livingston won two events at the MIAA Indoor Championships and broke three school records as well as two conference meet records. She was first in the long jump at 5.57 meters (18' 3.25") and the 60-meter hurdles at 8.94 seconds. Both of those marks topped the previous best in school and MIAA history. In the 60-meter dash, Livingston was second with a new school record time of 7.91 seconds. The sophomore also scored points for Trine in the triple jump with a second-place finish and third-place in the 200-meter run.

Miller was victorious in the mile (5:10.01) and 3000-meter run (10:19.20) and Livingston won the long jump at 5.57 meters (18' 3.25") and the 60-meter hurdles (8.94 seconds). Obear had the best weight throw of the afternoon at 17.34 meters (56' 10.75") to win that event and Presley was the event champion in the pole vault at 3.10 meters (10' 2.0").

Gladieux led the Trine men with victories in the 60-meter hurdles (8.17 seconds) and 400-meter dash (50.25 seconds). Theodore Samra [Lansing, Mich. / DeWitt] was the top performer in two events also, the weight throw at 17.19 meters (56' 4.75") and shot put at 14.65 meters (48' 0.75"). Samra becomes a first-time All-MIAA winner.

Joseph Packard [Kokomo, Ind. / Western], Ben Williams [Farmington Hills, Mich. / Harrison] and Greysen Spohn [Peru, Ind. / Peru] were event champions and joined Samra in being named All-MIAA for the first time. Packard won the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:13.43. Williams and Spohn won field events: the long jump (6.86 meters / 22' 6.25") and high jump (1.95 meters / 6' 4.75").

The Thunder continue to make a run for nationals this weekend with the Last Chance Meet at Wartburg College on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5.
