Trine Women Compete at Indiana Tech

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Trine University women's track and field team was in action in "The Monday Meet" hosted by Indiana Tech. Two school records were lowered at the event.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] shattered her own best mark with a time of 14.95 seconds in the prelims, the first ever sub-15 time in school history. In the finals, Livingston was sixth with a time of 15.06 seconds. She was also the top Trine finisher in the long jump at 5.47 meters (17' 11.50").

The other school record to be broken was by Evie Miller [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead]. The senior went 10:23.93 to win the 3000-meter steeplechase and took more than 30 seconds off her previous best time in the event.

Freshman Lydia Randolph [Jefferson, Ohio / Edgewood Senior] was the top finisher in two events for the Thunder: the 1500-meter run and 5000-meter run. She ran a twelfth-place 5:01.05 in the 1500 and secured a third-place finish in the 5000 at 18:27.59. Stephanie Hartpence [Elkhart, Ind. / Concord] notched the same feat in the 400-meter dash and javelin. In the 400, Hartpence was 20th with a time of 1:02.40 and 16th in the javelin with a best throw of 26.53 meters (87' 0.00").

To wrap up running events, Kennedi Sternberg [Kouts, Ind. / Kouts] was the top team finisher in the 200-meter dash at 26.78 seconds and Amira Faulkner [Bellbrook, Ohio / Bellbrook] ran a 2:27.99 in the 800-meter run.

Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] was a top field athlete for Trine in the hammer throw. She finished second at 55.82 meters (183' 2.00"). Other field events saw Chloe Bard [Montpelier, Ohio / Montipelier] secure a team-high throw in the discus (33.96 meters / 111' 5.00") and Madelyn Summers [Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble] in the shot put (10.86 meters / 35' 7.75").

Up next for the Thunder is the Indiana DIII Championships on Saturday, April 16 at DePauw University.
