Trine Women Take Home Wins in Three of Six Finals Thursday

ALBION, Mich. – The Trine University women's track and field program competed Thursday in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Outdoor Championships. Finals were held in six events as well as preliminary times set for six sprint events.

After day one, Trine is atop the team leaderboard with 61 points. Hope College is their closest competitors at 52 points.

The Thunder had three event wins Thursday, including Evie Miller's [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] race-winning time of 36:04.61 in the 10,000-meter run. That breaks the school record, giving her marks in seven different events in the Trine record book. Joining her were Alli Smith [Temperance, Mich. / Temperance Bedford] in fourth (38:24.79) and Chloe Goodrich [Burlington, Ind. / Carroll] in fifth (39:26.66).

Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] turned in an individual championship performance in the hammer throw at 55.50 meters (182' 1.00"). Madelyn Summers [Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble] also scored points in the event at 44.98 meters (187' 6.75").

Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] brought home the third win of the day in the long jump. She achieved a score of 5.72 meters (18' 9.25") to break her own school record.

In the shot put, Summers found herself on the podium with a third-place 11.15-meter (36' 7.00") throw. Andrea Rodeheffer [Minster, Ohio / Fort Loramie] was also third in the pole vault at 3.00 meters (9' 10.00"). Morgan Moslow [Highland, Ind. / Kankakee Valley] was fifth in the event at 2.90 meters (9' 6.25").

Lia Vawter [Franklin, Ind. / Franklin] secured points in the high jump at 1.49 meters (4' 10.75"), good for seventh spot.

Preliminary events took place in the 100, 200, 400 and 800-meter dash events as well as the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles. Those finals will take place on day two, Friday, May 6.
